Hello .. I found this a few weeks back on a NYC beach , looks like a arrow straightener , has all the grooves , finger notches and markings of one.

Some type of natural rock, it is not any kind of artifact. Finger grooves were not something Native Americans utilized on their artifacts.
No Not finger grooves . It’s notched on the sides not sure if I’m using the correct wording to describe.. it was carved to accommodate finger tips .

Looks more like formed ceramic than a rock to me, does it seem like that to you? Hard to tell from pics

Sorry, not a shaft straightener, and not an artifact tool. There are no signs when blown up of being used as a shaft straightener or any use, there are no scratches, lines or any signs in the grove of any usage and Natives did not make finger groves or notches for their fingers or hands, there would be no need for "notches" or "grooves" for a straightener nor any other native tool.

It has some resemblance to a fossilized tree limb or trunk, with the center decayed away before fossilization, producing a hollow core which appears in this section as a groove.

Possible, but it has the same grooves on the other side , just not too deep , it’s clearly fossilized wood . One side of it has chips or pecks to fit a thumb on one side and four fingers on the other . Also there is some sort of small picture/pictures looks like a fish and a bird symbol carved into it .

Sorry, but it is not an artifact, natural rock. NAs did not nap, flake, or ground grooves for places for fingers to fit.
