I have enjoyed hunting rocks, precious metals, coins, artifacts and other treasures all my life. I have seen informative posts from this website many times, great resource to me. I joined up today and already have need of help. I have a problem with getting the right words or attributions needed to get a coin properly graded. Waiting to hear from you with no comments from me on this coin.
Thank you

Thank you both for the welcome, I will add to my profile. This coin is an error coin it appears. Some areas are double struck ( 1 ) for example and the last 8 appears to be struck over a 7. I need expert help to see if this coin is an overdate? Or double strike? Or as it appears an overdate double strike which has no existence or attribution. I have found no examples of the 1888/7 overdate that come close to this coin. Attributed 1888/7 examples usually have just a small tip of the 7 showing. 9o’clock blown cud and over rotated bust tip are also characteristics of authentic 1888/7 ‘s. This coin could possibly meet these last 2 criteria . The obvious 8 over 7 may be one of a kind ? Thank you for the links to picture identification grading sites. Error coins are another level.
