Candle Snuffer?

bayonette scabbard tip

Scabbard tip maybe

Cool find, should have been posted in the "What's this "section" I think, but you got a possible Id anyway...

Could it possibly be a tip from an old umbrella or cane? The tips of hose were held on with a nail or screw.

Since you've requested ID-help... a 1"-diameter opening is too wide to be a socket-bayonet's scabbard tip.

Having a 1"-diameter opening and a small ball as the finial indicates it is a saber-bayonet scabbard tip. See the photo below.

Awsome find - looks really old what ever it is

it looks pretty close. the ball is the same and the trim at the top is the same. i am surprised the plows didn't mangle it more. unless someone comes up with something else i am calling it a saber-bayonet scabbard tip. thanks for the help. the guy lost his sabre scabbard and his cartridge box plate. i found these two relics about six feet apart on top of the cane row.
