brass band 001.webp brass band 003.webp brass band 002.webp I found this brass ring / band thing yesterday with my AT Pro detector . It came up as an 81 on the target ID about 10 inches in the ground. Its approximately 1 inch across, brass with small spots of gilt on it. On one end there appears to have been a swivel maybe and the other end there is like a brass wing ( one side is broken off) that the object was attached to something . could this have been a band that went around the barrel of a musket or possibly held a bayonet or something totally different ? Thanks for any help .

That is a Fly Terret/Swinger(Horse tack) one of it's attaching feet is missing and centre swinger plate, which perhaps might have had a makers mark.
