No expert here, maybe wave a strong magnet (neodymium if you have one) to see if you can feel anything however slight. If it's gold it might repel slightly but there isn't much to work with there. Or crush it and pan, then check with magnet. Ain't got enough money for new eye glasses so can't see it too good.
