I suppose this could be considered a general discussion post...not wanting to post in the 'what is it' section since it isn't a relic or metal find.

Found this skull on a sandbar in the midst of a river. It was in tact when I bagged it but when i took it out...it had fallen into 21 pieces. So, in attempt to identify it so I could plan better to glue it back together...I have not been able to find what creature it belonged to.

I thought it was a turtle...but, have found no local examples with that sort of 'nose' structure...

About 3/4 of the pieces I have matched up...but I don't want to glue anything out of order.

Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

In other words it doesn't appear to be a: False Map, Snapping, Eastern Painted, Box or Soft Shell turtle...is it even a turtle?

My guess, and I emphasize the word guess, is that it could be a bat skull
