Hmm, that's a tough one. I wish I could be of more help. Good luck!

Jewelry clasp... necklace ... two strand.

IF... IF... there is a "slot" on other side not shown.

Does there appear to be any writing on it? Consider laying it flat on a background that helps viewers discern obscured characteristics. Too, consider placing it close to a known object like a quarter or a dime. Perhaps offer some accurate measurements.

Whatever it is, with good photos and descriptions, someone on this forum WILL identify it for you! This is an amazing group of people.

No worries, I am too blunt for my own good sometimes. Im not sure about your item, Possible a pocket watch fob piece of some sort. But thats a serious shot in the dark on my end.

Thanks for the help!

It helps if pictures of an item to be identified include ALL sides of an item as to ascertain the true I.D.

Especially if the item resembles other items of a similar nature.

Top... bottom... and all sides and markings.

No writing but does appear to have a pin hinge and once would have slid open

Nice digs... would definitely work the area again.

Don't give up. Better pics help. Are we looking at an intact object or is this the lid or cover from something? I'm thinking some sort of locket. ???

After more cleaning it appears we have a locket. Unfortunately it cracked on me. But we figured it out!

Its an 18th C padlock

Agreed....early padlock.

Tough call on that one. Even with so many knowledgeable people on this forum, sometimes the bits and pieces are just tough to identify. Maybe someone will still come along and nail it for you. I was going to say it looks like a diary lock, that is missing the top lock loop. But if there is no place for a key on the face of the item, then thats not it either.
