Hi! Just registered & I'm very impressed with this site!

My father, who is a retired airline pilot, gave me a couple of things he collected while traveling to various countries. Most of these items were acquired in the 40's or 50's (he has been retired since 1977). Since it was so long ago, his memory is a bit fuzzy on exactly where these items came from, but he did spend quite a bit of time in Africa, South America, and Haiti.

When he was in a different country, he always liked to venture out away from the tourist areas and mingle with the "locals". I was wondering if any of you recognize the country, style, region, or tribe that these items may have come from.

I am really amazed by tight wood grain on the two carved faces (man & woman). Does anyone know what type of wood this is?

None of them have any writing or ID marks on them.

Thanks for any info!

Welcome to Tnet! My guess would be Africa but that's all it is.

First one is Bocota. Last one either African Mahogany or Cocobolo.
