Help identifying this gold ring?

Hey all, came across this ring that was part of my (Korean) grandfather's belongings. He was born in 1909 in Seoul, but traveled the world as a doctor for the WHO through the 50s and 60s before settling in the US. Wondering if anyone can tell me anything about the piece.

Seeing 925, could? it be gold plate over silver? Of course I can not read the other marks other then the 99.
