Found this button and not sure if its military or not. Its a two piece button. Any ideas on the year? Found hunting an old road that hasn't been used since the early 1900's.
well it could be a civilian coat button. It looks in too good of shape to be Civil War IMO but I am certainly no button expert. The back marking and shank are usually what gives you the necessary background and ballpark age. The design is certainly civil war.
It could be from someone who engages in Civil War re-enactments - I have found some of these. Civil War Buttons
Your button dates from 1910. Buttons made from 1902-1910 did not have the rim like yours. If you can tell us the backmark it may be possible to narrow down the date.
