Where did the term 'Tot Lot' originate?

I tried to Google it but did not get much information on it.

Anyone know?

The term was coined by Felix Fossidittle, Bronx, NY in 1960.

Well I clearly remember that on June 30th, 1960 Felix yelled at me and a few of my friends for being in his lot. He said, "You tots best get outta my lot".
