Hi,
Here is another photo of the Indian artifacts which I bought at an estate sale all for $1.00 I need to find out what that stone is on the left hand side of the photo. It looks like a bottle but it's solid. It's 2 3/4" long and about 1 1/2" wide. Also the piece on the bottom of the photo. It's 7" long and 1 1/2" wide. It looks like some kind of tool? Thanks for your help. Linda

It almost puts you in mind of a plummet. You might google "plummet" and see what you think. Gosh, you really came out good on that deal! Especially with that bannerstone! If you find another deal like that, just remember this small-time collector down in KY! ;D

Good luck!

I don't see a Banner in there anywhere either. The one piece on the left is a Plummet and it looks like a type normally found in Missouri and Arkansas area. The other piece at the bottom is a Gouge and more than likely a wood working tool. Very nice pieces for only a buck. Want to double your money? lol

i agree plummet or maybe some type of pestle
a bolas stone(thrown weapon)

Fantastic deal for sure but I don't see a bannerstone in there- ?

Cannonman, Linda had posted a thread about a bannerstone that had come out of the same box. Please refer to the thread named "What is this" posted earlier today.

Dorkfish, I was referring to the thread that Linda had posted earlier today named "What is this" in which a pic of a bannerstone that came out of the same box was posted. Please refer to the "What is this" thread from earlier today. Haven't quite lost my mind - yet.

Definitely plummet and gouge

So the "gouge" was used to straighten shafts right? Nice stuff for sure.

My guess is that Gouges were used in wood working just like we would use a wood chisel.

The plummet is an Elm point Plummet, Dorkfish is dead on about its Area found allthough He forgot to add ILL.. Elm point plummets are said to be associated with the Red ochre, and turkey tail points. I have found one Here it is. One other thing about Elm point plummets is that they are rare compared to like a Snyder, or gilcreas plummets. Great buy on that one. John Here are a couple pics. I'm sure you can See the elm point plummet like yours, It should have a flat top also.

Hey Linda,
You,re the big winner on The Antique Roadshow. The bannerstone in your other post would easily bring $400.00,plummet and points are nice too.And that is a gouge, not as particuilary valuable but a rare find to hold on to.
