I found these bullet slugs (not sure of proper name.) along a river and lake where there was a military for back in 1878.
I dont need help identifying if possible...
- Age
- Caliber
- From what gun (if possible)
- Are they valuable? or a dime a dozen?
- any other info you may be able to share.
I tried to take good measurements but they are not exactly symmetrical. I think some are old but not sure about the rest.
Thanks in advance.

How much are you paying per hour for research work?

#3 ( & #4 & #5) might be old or a modern version of an old style. The rest appear fairly modern.

Assuming 6, 7, and 8 are all three .451, then they would be either 45-70 or .45-55 bullets. Seeing as how the army was there in 1878, that's only about 140 years for all sorts of military and civilian use with all sorts of firearms of every description. In the end there is no real collector value, just the pleasure of knowing what you find. Perhaps someone you know would want to melt them down and recast them to be used again. Otherwise the value would be the price of scrap lead per pound.

"bullet" is the correct term for just the projectile. A complete cartridge including the case is called a cartridge..

Thanks for the clarification of terms!
