Helotojasi
Tenderfoot
Hi. Can anyone identify this rock, please? It's very heavy for its size and appears to have a crust, but doesn't appear to be magnetic. Thank you.
Not sure what you mean? It's a normal tape measure. Why do you ask?Is that tape measure patched?

I was wondering about the 10 feet/3 meter markings, but I'll guess that is the total length of the tape? Not sure what you mean? It's a normal tape measure. Why do you ask?
It was found in soil in the UK with a metal detector. Only very shallow. It doesn't seem to be even weakly magnetic. It does show a non-ferrous reading on the metal detector.Found in water or soil? I believe iron acidic water could cause this or heavy minerals or decaying matter.
A small file test maybe. There is not even a weak magnetic attraction?
I do not think that that the rock is anything special, I saw some that looked similar in the creek today. You can wire brush or file to see what's beneath the crusty exterior. It was found in soil in the UK with a metal detector. Only very shallow. It doesn't seem to be even weakly magnetic. What do I need to look for in a file test? Thanks.
