Got perms from my neighbor to hunt his other property right by my house, its old(er) and bout to be condemned....conditions vary from red dirt, to moderate soil, to gravel, to sandy dirt....here are pics, so far I've just done it haphazardly quickly scanning the front for a min, then back, and side door...got close as I could to the trees, but they need some serious trimming at the base to get where ppl would sit....how would u start gridding... The place is absolutely infested w trash....I have found 4 wheats, a tire, old jackstand and bunch of shotgun and 3030 shells/casings...and q silver play money token...no real silver yet....wheats were 2-4" from surface in back door gravel area...did a pretty good grid of it, but there's too much trash on my stock atp coil...anyways....any suggestions appreciated

I would start by imagining what walking paths were most often used between buildings and vehicles. Like a path that may have been walked frequently between the red garage and the house.

People are creatures of habit. They tend to fall into a routine and walk the same basic paths from point a to point b. And the possibility exists that over the years they may have dropped coins or jewelry along these paths.

Another good option would be the area around that clothes line.

Since you live next to it... I would say detect ALL of it. Don't miss a single spot.

Use a small coil (if you have one) and don't have the sensitivity too high.

I just bought a sniper coil for my atp, hoping its here tomorrow....realisticly tues or wed....I've got a lot of the easy coins so far, but there is so much iron in the ground I could probably make my own skyscraper, one rusty nail at a time... Surprisingly, my wheat count from here is up to 20-21now, and bout 20$ in clad... The high traffic areas around the house are where I will hit first w the sniper...I just hope it rains the night before so I can get a lil bit more depth...

Or do you think w my atp and 4.5" coil I should still just use half sens and get all the crap from the top couple inches....then open it up, get a few inches of rusty crap gone, then switch back to stock?....so far I've only found one silver Rosie, at 8", but the oldest wheat was 1919d, at 5", so I'm more than confident there's more silver, and I know I'm the first mder to detect here...
Thanks for the reply

How'd you make out on this property ?

Swing that coil where the lawn meets the street, also was/is there a mailbox on the property?,if so check around it.

If I had the right permissions, I'd be all over the house itself! Figure they'll demo the house first, so get it while you can. Then work the outside. Of course, I'd rather do building searches when possible. Some of my best finds came out of walls & ceilings!
