Help with 17" bronze statue identification

I do apartment maintenance and a tenant moved out and left this bronze statue behind in the trash. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen the markings on this. I know it's real bronze don't know purity, but it's really heavy for the size (17" tall)and it's mainly hollow with a ringing sound when you tap on it with a pencil. The only thing I can find close to it as far as the base and it being a hindu goddess is on ebay but none exactly the same and none with the marking on mine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your question might be better answered in the What Is It? section, but maybe a Mod can just move this one over there for you.

I don't know much about those other than this one looks to be from (or having to do with) India. Maybe someone else will have more info for you tomorrow.

Thanks for the help. I did a search for bronze sculptures on here and I found others asking about identification questions in the general forum. Sorry I should of searched the site longer. Did everything on this new cell phone and I didn't see the what is category until I switched to the website instead of the Google play store app. Thanks again for the move.

I don't do anything on a phone except phone stuff....meaning using my voice. Only when absolutely necessary will I break down and grab the wife's so-called "smart" phone (

) to look something up. We've had that dang thing over 2 years now and still can't figure most of it out!! :BangHead:

Maybe to the ladder
I don't ever use the phone either my wive has one. I received this one second hand for free to take pics with. I made account on cpu then took pics with phone and looked up the treasure hunt site on the phone and it says hey there is an app you can load for it on your phone I thought hey great so I loaded it and I don't like it but tried anyway I can't even see my my thread questions and answers on app but no problem on the net. Weird

I believe it is the Buddhist Goddess Tara.(White Tara.) as far as the mark on the bottom I have no idea.

We had a store here in town called the World Bazar that sold things like that back in the 60's&70's.

The Lakshmi Dancer the one on ebay I just found, and the one I have, has the same tattoos on legs, the same symbol on her palms, and the same earing, necklace, and whatever she is holding in left hand/arm. I'm pretty sure this is the same lady, I just wish I could find the makers mark somewhere on the net. If you look at the picture of mine (the bottom base) it also has a signature, but I Did not want to rip off the pads yet. I'm about to take the bottom plate off, its just a thin piece of copper crimped over the edges.
