I posted a few days ago bragging about my 10 year old son's first finds. One of the items he found was a barrel spigot. Well, we went to the same area today and he found another one! Strange thing is they are completely different. One looks machine made and the other looks hand made. Are they from same time period? Can someone educate me on these spigots because I'm having a hard time finding information. Thank you!!!!!!! :)

If your son goes out tomorrow and finds that keg of beer, let me know! :laughing7: It sounds like you're MD at an old tavern or someone's liquor still. Are they marked anywhere? I've seen those batwing type taps marked on the batwing. I would say they are around the turn of the century or slightly before that time. Neat finds, Breezie

Hahaha!!!!! That would be awesome ;) I do not see any marks. I love the batwing one! It looks so primitive which is so neat to me. I will take a better look tho. Thanks Breezie!!

I would say that the one with the "triangle" shape is missing the handle part. The hole in the middle of the triangle is it threaded? if so the handle was secured with a screw.

Thank you! I'm not sure what threaded means so I took some up close photos and adjusted the clarity to bring out details. I'm new at this so pardon my ignorance haha!

"Threaded" means, in this context, that the hole is grooved out so you can screw a screw into it.

No reason to ask for pardon, I picked this "knowledge" up on TNet, too :-)

Yes it is threaded. So it also had a screw? Tried to find the key today but no luck. Darn!
