Sorry I have no pictures yet but I will have some up with in the next few days. This tag is 1 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches & has
HOMESTEAD
HOTEL
59
HOT SPRINGS
VA.
There is a slot at the top where a strap of some sort went through. I googled the hotel and its not all that far from where I found this (hour). A very impressive hotel even today it remains quite the upscale hotel. My question is what type of tag and from what era. To me it appears maybe a luggage tag but why would they have one with the room number? :icon_scratch:Assuming that 59 was the room number. The hotel was founded in 1766 with the main construction being done in 1892 I believe. :dontknow: What do you all think? Luggage? Era?

Re: Help with a metal motel tag id...

I think you may have answered your own question. It appears to be a luggage tag with a room # so the goods would not be lost. :dontknow:

So the goods wont be lost fromThe room? Or was it for shipping them to and from the hotel? I dont see why you would need a luggage tag if your luggage is in your room with you is what I am getting at.

Without seeing it,I think it's a key fob for room 59? Monty

If it was/is an upscale hotel, guests would never carry their own bags to the room. If a Bellman is not immediately available, the bags are tagged with the room number for delivery when a Bellman is available.

A picture may tell the story, but I suspect it is a room key tag.
