Help with Chinese/Japanese writing.

Bought these plates for 6$. They have either Chinese or Japanese writing on the back. A dragon on the front with flower designs.

My wife who is a native Chinese speaker says that it's not standard Chinese, possibly a different calligraphic style. It's also possible that it is gibberish, as many other countries copied Chinese styling. I think it might be an older Japanese export,as they copied Chinese style extensively for western export. Those characters look like a child scribbled on the plate. Not sure what they are but it don't look like Japanese Kanji to me.
 

that looks like old Chinese before the simplification of the 1950's 60's
