I have had this coin for about 10 years. I paid $300.00 for it.
Not much into foreign coins and I am not sure how to find the value.
Here is what I know. 1697 1/2 peza or piza, Krause KM31. I think this Krause # is correct. I cant afford to buy coins and a $60.00 book.
Any help would be greatly appriciated. VPR

possably from Italy.

Sorry I Can't find anything on it.

BTW:
One 1707 VF sold in Jan. 07 for $920 and a 1697 VF piece sold in June of 05 for $977.50. Looks like you made a great investment.

One sold at Stacks in March 06 and was described like this:

TUSCANY. Grand Duke Cosimo III, 1670-1723 EF $1,800.00 (price sold)

Livorno (Leghorn). Pezza della Rosa, 1670. Medici Arms under open coronet with spiked uprights that was the Grand Duchy's distinctive regalia. Rv. Blossoming rose tree, Latin GRATIA OBVIA VLTIO QVAESTA, (Meaning: Grace Offered, Punishment Provoked). Dav.4216A, KM 15.1. Extremely Fine.

WOW !!! Thank You for the help !!!
You delivered way more info than I expected. I guess that my next step will be NGC. Get the coin graded and maybe put it up fo sale.
If I remember I will post the coins grade when it comes back. For a little fun, any guesses on the grade?? I say EF 40.
Thanx again for the help, VPR

I'm not a grader but would be surprised in anything less than a VF 40. Your coin is also of great historic value in that with it you can tell the story of the leading Italian family of Tuscany, the Medici family; the history of the Etruscan Civilization--or my favorite--Chianti wine.

Congrats on your sale.
Did you toast the sale with some Chianti?
It was a great coin.

I think I am going to invest in a 1914-D Lincoln Cent. That is one of the few that I need to finish my set.

Vermont:
Great choice.
I see four are featured this AM on eBay--between about $200 and $900.
Good (continued) luck with your buys.
