I found this piece of leather and this other item looks like a part of a spoon but it is hollow and has writing on it also both items where found with most of the bullets in the picture could leather last that long from the CW it was deep around 9 inches maybe just horse tack but looks like a repair job since the grommets are not evenly spaced ?

Hutch,

Not sure about what your leather is but it clearly looks repaired. The metal looks like a bobbed off end of an old monogrammed knife from a silverware set kind of like the ones in the picture below.

Here is a modern version of the pattern called simply "Knot". Most likely your pattern is similarly named.

Leather has survived since Roman times in water logged condition, so yes it is possible. No idea if it is CW as the rivet types changed very little over time.

Leather looks like rivetted(sp?) harness leather...

I agree, the little oblong pieces look like bobbed off ends to a silver set. The sawtooth pattern is interesting on the leather piece. Monty
