Hey guys, I have been using the Jolly's for a few years and love the headphones, however, a couple of hunts ago when I went to place my machine on the ground my headphones all of a sudden went silent. I have checked them on different machines and still no dice so I know its a problem with the headphones not the machine. Any suggestions on what may have happened to them? I can get no sound out of them what so ever. Yes, I have tried flipping the switch and turning the knob and nothing works, starting to wonder if its a wiring issue. If anyone else has experienced the problem and could help that would be excellent, thanks in advance!

Yah, you blasted them out with that peace dollar!!

set your machine up to have a loud constant threshold hum and move your hp cord around especially by the plug and see if sound cuts in and out.

I will give that a try jharhed! Thanks

The peace dollar nearly knocked me over twice! Once when I got the signal and again when I saw what I had in the hole!

Luke the usual problem is in the wire connection at one end or the other. Call Detector Pro and see what they want to fix them. If you bought them new they will likely fix them for free. I think if I remember right you got them used with your machine, but Detector Pro will repair them for a fee. Meantime you can get a Radio Shack cheapie to use while you send them away or borrow a pair. Detector Pro-----) 800-367-1995 or 1-845-635-3488

I thought it as Me :( Yesterday with my New Black Widows on My Explorer.
Got a Target. got down dug it.
Stood up and My phones went Silent in one ear.
Checked switches & Volume Knobs. Unplugged & Re Plugged.
Shook Wire Nothing I was Pissed. they are just a Month old at best.

Walked over to my Nephew plugged them in his 3030 they were Fine
walked back to My explorer Plugged them back in Nothing completely silent both ears :(
My nephew shouts Turn the detector off & on.
That worked .

Short time later happened again. Totally silent both ears.
Tried on off trick , Tried Volumes, Toggles, Shaking wires Nothing.
Last flip of the Toggle as I was ready to go to the car for backups
toggle worked :dontknow:

I'm not sending them in at this point.
Probably won't happen for them :(

1. Not the Plug into the Detector, Detector on Off worked first Time
2. Not Toggles detector On/off worked first time
3. Not Wiring. Switching detectors worked First Time but not switching back.
4. Not necessarily on/off switch on my detector. it didn't work
the several times I tried the second time they went out.

5. & what about Brewha08's experience ?

I'll have to do some testing today after work and see what I can come up with. Today at lunch I will give detector pro a call. I sure love my Jolly Rogers they worked great for me.

Jeff, call them up, sounds like a wiring problem too. They have very good customer service and your new ones do have a great warranty.

Most likely you have a short in the cable where it plugs into detector...

I honestly don't think Detector Pro cares.
Last time I called them was about a Brand new pair of Gray Ghosts I bought that had no decent volume.
and they didn't give a Crap.

just wondering if I made a mistake trying another type

Jeff sent you pm..

Just spoke with someone at detector pro, seemed very friendly and told me to send in the headphones and the warranty would most likely cover it. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery so I can get back to detecting with comfortable headphones.

How did the repair turn out?
