help with metal detector...

I just got my metal detector and it works great! Until I took it to my property... it makes half a second beeps and then stops, and there is nothing there, it does it randomly and not because there is something really small, It did it when I held it high in the air, it still detects but it kinda throws me off, when I hear it I always go over the area it did it and hear nothing, it is a Tesoro silver UMax.

How do you have your sensitivity set? It could also be EMI, are there any electrical lines over head or under ground near by...?

I have my sensitivity at 10 and there is one phone box but it still did it when I moved away from it and the wire.

I didn't have my cell phone at that time, I will put in new battery, I put in the one that came with the box.

Sensitivity is WAY too high at 10! Drop it down between 6-7 and see how you do.

How far did you move away 20 feet or 200 ft...? If you got EMI from electrical cable moving say 20 feet want mean much...

I found the problem! our neighbor had a phone box and I didn't see it, only our phone box, so I did't know what was going on! Thanks for the help though! I will turn sensitivity down, but most people who have this metal detector say to turn it up all the way, so I did! Opps!
