So I post again another object pulled with a magnet from a 19th century ship wreck. Of course, I'd like to think it is related to the steamer, but I know it could be something else. I'm sure folks here will take one look at it and know exactly what it is and its application. What stands out to my pedestrian eyes is that it is uneven and there are two different sized nuts. Any help is appreciated!

Yes, near shore, but in same area as engine parts from the steam engine.

Without a doubt it's a U-bolt and the square nuts imply it's got some age, however you'll probably never figure out exactly what it was holding together.

U Bolt that held leaf spring from an old Lorry.

Just my thoughts.

Old u bolts like that were used on a lot of things everything mentioned above and wagons and could quit possible came from your wreck.

Old hay wagons used similar ones, I have a bunch kicking around as my house was an old farm from the 1800s.
