What is this? Found on a beach behind a 1800's farmhouse on James River. Brackish river water and the farmhouse has been around a long time. It is about the size of a quarter and has 2 hooks on back like a belt buckle. I belive it is brass. I know the pics are bad but anybody have a guess

Thanks

They are the shinny little sexy stud type deals on saddles and such - little round decorations. They are also on other horse tack like headstalls and such. You might see them on other leather objects liek a cowboy's chaps... or on a motorcycle seat. SOmetimes they have little leather tags comming out of the middle... you get the picture... right?

Think conchos

I found the cob in Williamsburg area. The picture doesn't do it justice. You can really see the engraving etc. It is from 1661 from Potosi mint. I got that info from help here on the net. It is silver although the pic looks gold.
