Found in my brother’s backyard in Beltchtown MA. I have found older relics there before. Any help would be appreciated

Looks like it was a small box or case at one time. Maybe for make up or jewelry .

I’d guess a clamshell-type compact for make up. Maybe 1940s by design.

I was wondering about that also. but I can't determine the size over all.
It would help to know how big these are actually.

Some had 3 pieces. A lid and base that were the same size and an inner divider that was smaller, to fit. I guess it allowed for 2 make ups, or powder and an application pad.

Maybe a cloth covered coin purse?

That’s art deco design, probably 30s-40s. I would say it had beauty products in it. Maybe a cigarette case if it’s large enough
