✅ SOLVED Help with this please !

Found this on the side of a bluff. It was about 3 to 4 inches deep on a forest floor. Have found some musket balls and one minnie in the area. Its solid brass but doesnt seems to have been machined very well. Looks fairly crude in craftsmanship. Its really out of place for the area. Any ideas?

It is part of a plumbing waterline shutoff gate-valve, made of brass or more probably bronze. A similar one was discussed recently here: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/349776-any-ideas-what-could.html
