🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Help with wood box

Can anyone help with this little box? I cannot figure out the purpose. When you open the top the inside rises and the little door can open it has a slot in the bottom. There is also a little piece that lifts as well

Jewelry box. The slots are for rings. my grandfather had one similar covered in faux leather yours is a nicer one. Others I've seen had a piece of brass on the lid that had been ngraved with initials & one I assumed as a family crest. See if rhe slotted ring tray lifts out. Might be some paper money still tucked under it.

The ones I'm thinking had an insert made of foam that had slots & was covered in velvet. Kind of like the display boards Jewelry stores use. The insert might be missing if yours is what I'm thinking.
