I found this fragment on eastern Long Island NY

The farm has yielded some colonial era buttons and a musket ball

Could this possibly be a piece of a butt plate of a flintlock musket??

Looks like a drawer pull escutcheon, or possibly part of a bolo.

That's one massive advantage (which I forgot to mention in our debate :wink: ) to the UKDFD over the PAS is that it does include items younger than 300 years old. It's a real merit that they bother, so we can all learn more about our more recent past :hello2:
