Found this in Saluda,Va at a buddies house that dates back to the mid 1800's. However the surrounding land dates back to the 1700's. Any idea what this might be from. I am beyond baffled. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It measures around an inch and a half long.

My guess (and it is a guess) would be that it is part of a sword pommel.

Quite right. The attachments (pics) are taking much longer than we anticipated, and will begin to show up as the conversion progresses. Please bear with us while we complete the process and tweak things in response to your questions and requests.

Singletree:
A wooden bar swung at the center from a hitch on a plow, wagon, etc. and hooked at either end to the traces of a horse's harness
