Hello everyone,

I'm a new member on the board and a rookie roll hunter. I work at a restaurant and constantly run the drawer, while my co-workers talk about me looking for treasure, lol. I've got most of my coins from people who just give it to me in the change. I've got a great 64 quarter some lady dropped and I heard it from the sound( they sound different, like treasure),I knew what it was and offered to give it back to her, she said keep it. My friend found an amazing '58 quarter the other day when some lady dropped it, he switched it for whatever he had in his pocket. She was about to waste it at wawa, he had to step in.

I did my first run 3 weeks ago and got $140 in quarters, the teller was not pleased and immediatley asked me if I had an account. I did not. I know her boss, so I pulled the card. They went into the vault. She came back with 4 hand rolls and 10 clear plastic rolls. I knew as soon as I saw the clear rolls, there wasn't a thing
in them. I could see it, no stand outs. The hand rolls provided nothing.

I'm going on a run tomorrow, various banks, $200 halve run.

Nice to be here, any advice would be appreciated.

Sadly Quarters stink for finding Silver in rolls. Try your luck if you really want to, or if you need something like National Park or State Quarters for your collection, but Quarters are probably the most heavily circulated coin there is, and are pretty big, so almost all Silver has been cherrypicked out. What little Silver remains is further diluted by 34 BILLION State Quarters.

Dimes are much better for your instant plastic roll search coins. While Dimes are still heavily circulated, they go around a bit less than Quarters and are quite small, so more Silver goes unnoticed. The Silver Dimes are also not hidden among 34 Billion "State Dimes." I'm more than willing to bet you could easily find say 50 Silver Dimes from rolls before finding 20 Silver Quarters from rolls.

Half Dollars are quite simply the holy grail of CRHing. Very low circulation coupled with people not knowing that 65-70 is 40% Silver means there's still a ton to find. Recently they have seen a large amount of collector/CRH demand, but still produce better than Dimes.

Halves > Dimes > Quarters.

I agree.. I think most dime keepers are still around because people don't really notice them.. So they see a white Roosie.. bid deal right? Halves are the holy grail of CRH and I used the same words when I explained that to a teller last week. However in terms of profits.. pennies are better than dimes since they are consistant producers.

Halves > Pennies > Dimes > Large Dollars > (Quarters = Nickels) > Small Dollar Coins
