It looks like large annual rings and large resin ducts in the wood strips in the last picture. So it likely is pine. Not much info but might be a help.

trunks hardware looks older, but watch out for the stickers, decals, prob not much help

It's a steamer trunk. Probably had more decoration at one time. Nice find!
