Hello. I live in Duxbury, just north of Plymouth. Duxbury is an old ship building port on the Cape Cod Bay. I find all kinds of mysterious brass, iron, steel stuff stuck in the mud and on beaches. One particular favorite haunt is near an old ship launch. Could use a little help identifying...its 10" and 6.5 oz.

I spent some time living in Duxbury as a kid back in the late 1970's, and even did some detecting with an old Garrett Ground Hog. Could your item be a large needle for mending canvas sails? Just a guess. There's a lot of history in that town. Good luck finding some of it. HH.
