20 degree drop in temperature and a stiff breeze a hunt was in order . Went down to the hidden springs camp on our place and dug a new hole in the shade already had the screen setup . Hard digging rocky ground but found a Willits Side Notched Point and made my day . 2000 B. C. to A. D. 500 Late Archaic N California

Hard pan or bedrock just a couple of feet most of the time . Once in awhile 3 or four feet but most of the soil is shallow . The next screen load might have some treasurer a lot of Gold placer and load has been found here . So we pan a sample now and then and yes we find a little Gold . The proof from a 5 gal bucket of dirt lol from under the screen .
