Hiking around Salt Fork State Park when my wife about stepped on this curiosity as we were going up a steep hillside. Is this possibly silver?

Not sure - if you don't have a test kit a local Jeweler could tell you if it's Silver or not.

Considering one of the streams is named Silver creek it might be known for Silver. So the possibility is good.
