It's amazing how the Americans can come here and find Saxon Gold coins :icon_scratch: on such a short time :icon_scratch: and all the outher very scarce stuff that went with it :icon_scratch: Yet all the detecting rallys held here each year I don't think I have ever heard or seen a Saxon Gold coin, even though they attract about 5 hundred people from the Uk :icon_scratch: This is the second such coin I have seen by Americans :icon_scratch:

Amazing finds! outstanding video and a lot of fun even watching it from the sidelines. Always enjoy your vids. Looks like you could give Cru and SS a run for their money.

Amazing finds indeed, and a wide range of finds, were they from the same field :dontknow: A Uk detectorist would call that area the find of a lifetime, three Gold objects alone, on the first video, never looked at the outher two. I have had four ancient Gold objects, but it's taken Ten Years to do it.

The area in question is about 2000 acres 60 fields. Thats 7 guys hunting 10 hours a day for 3 weeks. 70 man hours a day X 21 That 1470 hour of hunt time.

1 hunter hunting 5 hours on the weekend. You would have to hunt 6 and a half years to equal our hours. in a 3 week trip.
A little perspective

That is a lot of man hours detecting, as for my five hours a weekend, you can treble that during peek time(after harvest) and Colchester seems like the place you boys head for :icon_scratch: thought it might have been hunted out by now ;D seems like everybody goe's there :)

Now Silver, you wouldn't be suggesting the hunts were conducted in the famed pepper fields of Colchester, would you? :-X
I have read a few articles about over seas detecting...just hope the packages aren't all like that...I hope......

Would I do that  It's just amazing what these guys have found, and I know a lot of man hours went into it :o it's just amazing that they found, what 99% of Uk detectorists will never find :-X...now I'm off down to Colchester :laughing9:

Good luck in colchester SS. :hello2:
I just want to know who would create a perrer field with those fairly high dollar items. Saxon strap ends are listed around 500 pounds, a lizzie Hammered gold just like the one Mark found was on e-bay the same week it went for 2900 pounds. The nice thing is every gold coin we have found on these hunts has been authenticated ( given a cci Number) or fitz refrence # by the museum. Plus the guy that runs the hole thing is way too cheap to spring for pepper. LOL
