So 10 years ago, when I was a wee lad of 53, I hit an 1870's house in town. I didn't get to finish it back then because the yard/s were so big and if I remember correctly it was summer.
I spent the last two days detecting it again and came away with some pretty neat relics. My first plug was a rusty old horseshoe. LOL
I also dug $4.42 in clad and not 1 silver coin!!! Out of the 37 pennies I dug, 21 were wheat pennies. Ran into numerous pocket spills too.
I did recover one 1903 IH and a toe tap right by the front stairs.
I dug a small gold (?) piece of jewelry that has a metal swivel piece in the center. Perhaps half of a set of cufflinks? :dontknow:
Dug a neat old luggage tag. I googled the name "R.K. Orr Jr. - Hendersonville" and see his name popped up in the early 1900's.
A large cast metal piece that says "Penny" on it and has an image of an Indian on it. Couldnt find the other half.
A silver plated brass valve stem cover. The nicest one I've ever dug and it was smaller that any one I've dug in the past too.
A piece that reads " The U.S. Ink Well Co. - Pat'd 1905-06 - Evansville, Ind." I couldn't find anything on the company. :dontknow:
A decorative pocket watch cover.
A dog tag with the owners dogs name and daughters name. "McKenzie" wasn't attached to the tag thank God. :tongue3:
A brass on/off valve for gas lighting. (?)
A bell looking piece that I think was part of a phone maybe? There are wires attached on the underside.
*A neat old bottle that I saw sticking part way out of the dirt. It was complete with a plant growing inside. I never saw a top like this on a bottle. After I took the picture I knocked the bottle off the table, and guess what? :BangHead: Any idea on the bottle? It had no markings on it.

Also, a lot of whats-its. If you can ID any of them I would appreciate it.
* A small brass looking scoop thingy that looks like it attached to a handle?
*The gold jewelry piece.
*A large brass piece that looks like branches a limbs.

Sorry for the long-winded post. Thanks for looking.

Picture #13 is a shoe toe tap, kept from wearing the toe end out so quickly, nice assortment of finds! :icon_thumright:
Yep, I've dug those in the past at CW sites too.
Thanks for looking.

That was a lot of digging! You found many cool and strange objects, congrats!
You should have seen my scrap bucket. At least 15 lbs of crape’. 🤪
Thanks for looking.

Great mix of things, was that one hunt for that house or multiple?
That was two days in a row for 4 hrs each day. I hit it 10 years ago but don’t remember what I dug back then? I’m going to see if I can find my old post.
Hopefully I dug a silver coin or two back then.
Thanks Nathan. 👍

Found it!
Here’s what I dug at that same house 10 years ago. No silver coins back then either. 😭

Looks like you got a model T or A radiator part thing-a-ma-jig
Valve stem cover. 👍
I used to think they were lipstick covers when I first found them. lol

I meant this, model T or A drain valve
Is that what that is?
I thought maybe it was some sort of valve for gas lighting. What do I know?
Thanks for that ID. 👍

Yeah my boss is a car guy he knew right away when I brought it to him
Very cool. I’m happier knowing it’s a car part. I once dug a radiator badge for a Kissel car. I never heard of that car before. Thanks Nathan.
