Morning hunt with CDV and Ringnut today. The waters are getting chilly. I keep saying I'm gonna get a wet suit but that never happens. First beach was pretty much dead. Cliff managed an old silver ladies ring. Stan and I split from there and headed to another beach. I only had one target and that was right before Stan motioned to "lets go". I took a step and got a faint target. Turned out to be a tungsten (arg!) and silver ring. We then headed to yet another and this time Stan scored a nice little silver ring. But just before he did I was digging a target and looking out away from shore and saw a fin. A big fin and it wasn't going up or down. It was about 30 yards away and heading south. I called out to Stan and we watched him swim towards a public beach with people in the water. We high tailed it the other direction. We estimated the distance between his dorsal fin and tail to be about 4-4.5'. My nerves were a little rattled after that to say the least.

After Stan left I ended up finding a real nice ladies silver 24" box chain with dolphin pendant.

Love the dolphin find!! I found what I believe to be a dolphin bracelet at a ball park next to the bleachers. Again great find!

Interesting story, Dc426...and very pretty silver finds.
Be careful out in that water!

We ran a charter boat on the same beaches your hunting, for years ... One of the main species people wanted to catch was shark. Inevitably, customers would get on the boat, we'd head out to the pass, and park, just off the beach.... Customers would say, "I thought we were going shark fishing" ... My reply was always the same ... "We are. This is where they live."

We've caught hammers, bull, tiger, sand, lemon, nurse, spinner, black tip, and a great white, just to name but a few, and they were all taken within a stones throw to the beach. Some people say they wont hunt at night because of them ... I say it doesnt matter if its day or night. Those very same sharks, we caught in mornings, afternoon, and night. They feed all day.

With this knowledge, it never made/makes a difference to me. I hunt day and night. Preferably night. Keep a keen eye out, and a bright light, and hope for the best. One thing you may also want to consider carrying, is an easy to access divers knife. Ultimately, it's all you can do.

:D

Happy Hunting!

Your killing the chains lately...congrats...I hate shark stories. :icon_pale:

Nice ticket's there DC. Wish I was there. :BangHead: :BangHead:

That would have scared the hibbie jeebies out of me! Sheesh. I KNOW what is out there but..... Anyway you still managed to find a couple nice things. Congrats!:icon_thumleft:

Nice finds dc426. I'm sure I will think of the shark story when I am in the water tomorrow. I see you have both a CZ and an AT. Which do you like better?

I like them both equally. I use the ATP on land and fresh water and the CZ's in salt water and wet sand.

I'm a coward! already broke out the wet suit!! Way too cold for me!! Good finds though!! Ray
