Decided to go hit the Capt. Stephen Olney homestead c.1802 since it is now for sale and vacant, called the owner and got permission for some free range metal detecting. Put in a total of 5 hours and dug well into dark due to starting later to keep the attention down being right on a main road, started finding some clad and old tacks and figured the ground is definitely virgin. Headed to the front side of house and hit a silver tone and dug up my first 1952 Rosie. Started swinging around the main entry toward the road and hit a good signal ended up digging an 1899 I.H Penny in pretty good shape at approx. 5 inches, about 3 feet from there I hit the same signal digging up an 1864 I.H Penny in real good condition around 8 inches deep, comming across what looked like an old fire out area I got a solid copper chatter ended up digging an old women's small ring stamped copper in the inside of band haven't identified yet but looks to be mid-late 1800's. Just as I was about to call it quits I did one final sweep by the front door and got a solid hit ended up digging my first large cent at 9 inches brushed it off and BAM! 1816 Large Cent!! My second oldest coin definitely a great ending to a fantastic hunt!! Enjoy pals.
