Needs More Research.
Northern tribune. [volume] (Cheboygan, Mich.), 05 June 1884.

There is a Hog's Back a good distance west of Montreal

there are several Hog Back Hill's in the States.
But since the Clipping comes From the Montreal Witness, common sense directs me there

Bigger Issue :
The Gold was Buried During a Breakdown
Since I See no reason,
the Original Crew couldn't retrieve the Gold.
after Repairs, Or a Replacement Stage was Sent.
I Can't follow Why there is Speculation.
was there fighting on this spot ?I Know extremely little on the War of 1812
