Had the day off with the weather. So I decided to head up to the shop anyway to go through the scrap pile and make myself a 3 foot digger. A couple hours later and I was done. Ran home real quick and took it out of my vehicle to show my wife and tell her I was goin to try it out. Got to a the site only to realize I was an idiot and left it at home. I didn't let it get me down to long though. Continued on with the hunt and found a 1904 Barber Dime to end the season.

I'm torn between looking at the digger and the silver, both are very nice.

You did a good job with that.

If you make tip sarrated it'll help with the roots. I have a ground shark. Looks like yours. It pushes roots out of the way more so then cutting through like a wider less chiseled tip.
Good luck.

nice digger and silver , well done :icon_thumright:

Very nice, that spade looks like it will definitely get the job done.
Congrats on the silver

Well look at you Mr handy!, that's an awesome digger you made, and good job on your 400th barber this year

Nice job on the digger, congrats on the dime

Your a good little welder, nice work.
I like the Barber best! Nice work on that!

Congrats on going out with a bang, nice Barber and love the homemade digging tool.

Hello Nepa-Will. Nice Barber and a great way to finish off the year. That digger looks like a fine piece of work. Good Luck. C9

Nice job on the digger! And the coin's pretty sweet, too . . .

Congrats on the Barber. That digger should last you a few decades!

Is that shovel welded with a single pass or multiple? Looks wicked strong and ready for NE PA rocksoil! Lol

Nice Barber to close out the year

Steve

That digger is "manly" LOL. not like those weeny little Leshe gardening tools for the wifes petunia plants..Eh?

BUT YOU FORGOT to take it!

BTW, I make my own 2 foot diggers from car leaf springs. I toss a chunk in my wood boiler and it gets red quick so I can blacksmith it thinner, and not waste Ox/Acetylene gas

Thanks Scrappy! Those two nice welds are single. The other areas just fed some wire to give it a little extra strength.

Thanks CT! Definitely a little more manly. I made the spade from 1/4 inch thick angle iron. Heated the angle up with the torch. Put it in a big press and stopped just before it flattened out. Then just grinded down the edges. I hope it'll do the job

Awesome rustic digger, I believe it will last for a long time in the field. The silver is cool too. :occasion14:

I like a silver toned like that much better than a shiny one. Your digger looks perfect for your woods hunting Will. Happy New Year:occasion14:
