I'll be vacationing for two weeks in Homer, Alaska in June, 2008. I'll be the acting driver for my 82 year old parents who wish to visit one more time. If it was left up to me, I'd spend my two weeks in Fairbanks where there are public gold areas but the choice isn't mine. Anybody know if gold nugget hunting along the beaches of Homer is viable? I have a Minelab XT18000 for my hunting. We'll be visiting Whittier for a day and I'll probably get a chance to stop at Crow Creek Gold Camp. If there is no gold deposits at Homer then I'll just do some beach hunting. I know the XT18000 can handle the sands almost anywhere. Should I take my Minelab Excalibur or leave it at home? Thanks!
