looks like a sword part, not sure of the sword type/name but I'll bet thats what it is

Dude it's a friggin sword hilt!!!! Are you kidding me???? That's absolutely incredible man....incredible

How big is it? Hard to tell. Maybe a dagger or something? Hope I'm right and I'm not a complete idiot lol

I'm no sword hilt guy, but I would say it looks French to me. Great find Crabby. Also that GR piece is something important, but I'll wait for the experts to chime in.

WOW dude!! Wish my site was drying up like that. Looks like a sword hilt to me. You are the man!!

Gotta be more there. You telling me they buried 4 colonial gold rings but never dropped a large cent

THEY dropped a half cent

OK, crabstang44, I'm going to have to whip out my 'jealousy' sermon...you have been pulling some great things out. I agree it is a hilt assembly. CAREFULLY see if you can ID material and any hallmarks. That thing appears to age/date to the other items.

Wow. just WOW.

That's an incredible sword hilt. Colonial too.

It's very similar to the last two rows here.

Sheesh guy, you have one heck of a site there. Good luck trying to top it, lol. That hilt alone is a find of the year but combined with your other finds, there are no words to describe it.

Looks like a British Georgian era padlock key hole cover.

It's amazing and a Amazing site

Definitely a French and Indian War to Revolutionary War period brass sword hilt. Strong French influence, but the Continental Army used them a lot. An excellent find for any year.

THEY dropped a half cent

Oddly, I think thathalf cent is the only coin found there dated between the revolution and just before the civil war. So it was either a random non associated drop or there should be more there. Just a theory
