Looks like an aftermarket hood ornament from the 1950s. I tried to find one online but alas, failed.

The closest thing I can find is from a '32 Oldsmobile. Look at the first photo on this page:

The glass round part is the thermometer,should be able to see it on both sides. Quite valuable! My 26 T had a smaller one. Very very nice!
