Additional note: These are not easy finds. When at that depth the items are in several inches of lake muck. As soon as you disturb it, it is a virtual brown out.

If I had to guess - late 1960's - 70's era depth gauge - very cool !

Notice gauge is stuck at wha ... umm 50 foot.

This is where it sat IMO for some time... until some form of intrusion or just springs rusted in position.

wonder if OP recovered from this same depth or gauge washed in to area found.

Thanks AARC.
Duh!! All I had to do was think to look at the gauge. (I'll blame it on the weak coffee this am.)

lol. my coffee isn't kicking in yet either. heh

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Nice finds! I just ordered 2 Nokta plastic scoops.

my friend Jim wears a good glove and reaches into the muck and waves hand over his coil till he has it
i dont hunt mucky spots usually - in pic above i am using a PI PRO - i use CZ21s now so i can pass up bobby pins and small hooks
if in a loaded area - i mostly hit salt water and they get dissolved so normally not a prob

Unless stainless hooks. :)

Well done, congrats! :occasion14:

I dive in rivers mostly, I wonder how useful a hookah system would be in a strong current. I've watched tons of vids of people diving in the ocean with them and would love to give one a try. Me and my bro used to play with a compressed air tank on an inflatable float in a lake, but never could really get an effective mouthpiece (we were like 12-14)

I would think anywhere with a current you would have to anchor your system or you would always be at the end of your airline as the hookah would be drifting with the current.

Nice vintage gauge! :icon_thumleft:

Unless stainless hooks. :)
I have some heavy Kevlar water gloves that a stainless hook would be tough for stainless hook to go thru
dont know many guys that fish with stainless in fresh water

So this is known as SNUBA
you would have to anchor inn a river or stream also notice thing on my respirator
so it does not get yanked out by wave or current or shark if he grabs my hose
this is easier than hookah - gas hookah you can add more gas - electric you have to change
battery - snuba just have to switch tanks (i have 3) - if you want to hunt longer
I never get much time to use any of them much as Id like

Correct even brand new it retailed for 20-30$

Thank you all for posting. As for the depth, I found gage was apx 20 feet with visibility 5 feet and dark. Once muck is disturbed, your visibility goes to 5-6 inches. What I do is; use my vibra probe and stick hand into several inches of the mud and IF I am lucky it is in my palm.

Rinse and repeat if it drops out of your palm and back down.
