I imagine these are hook locks from a fence or other door. The smaller one has the base attached and the hook measures 3.5 inches, and the base is 1.5 inches across. The larger hook measures 6.5 inches. Can someone please confirm the identity of these and the time period they are from? Thanks for reading!
 
Sorry, unsure as to anything other than that brass hook attached to the mounting bracket is so flipping COOL!:headbang: My guess is civil war era or there abouts. Wonderful hooks and hope you find out more specific details about them.:icon_thumright:

....Where did the Duke find 'em ? They are cool . I imagine one of them holding a shutter open !
Come to think that the Bronze? one could have been on a vessel .

I found them on an old estate called Rockwood Mansion pretty far away from the house itself. I like where your mind is going with the shutter...what type of vessel are you referring to?

The one looks like it was made out of a skeleton key or something. Very fancy for just a little loop lock.
