Horse or Human Tack ?

Hi!

i assume this item was used to hold a leather strap/belt. Anyone know if it’s horse related or human and what timeframe. I have dug everything from modern to an 1809 cent in this location. Thanks for any info.

Tough one, not seen it before. All I can do is add comments to help someone along.
Looks brass, with that patination probably 19th C. looks like it was soldered onto another piece of metal.
Sorry thats it, but some kind of strap guide does makes sense, maybe on a saddle
