These kooks are too much.I contact the local historic socioty museum to offer donation of 1800s mining camp relics I found...legally.small personal items and a few coins. The guy I talk to there starts ripping me a new one for ,"pirating his forest"and that is a quote.I have a prospecting permit,an adventure pass, and been here over thirty years,so I got pissed.I told him where he can go after explaining my practices.

This was in nov.2012(important)

Then I see this in a,"down the hill"paper
BIG BEAR: Historical Society members take artifact for museum | San Bernardino County News | PE.com - Press-Enterprise

what they stole was one of these, nearly exactly, even size..bout 16 feet across.. arrastre.webp....It gets better.

During this exchange they had already started ripping this historic site off,and yes the quote in the article is him.Amazing that any fool could be so self righteous and ridiculous....Ya...he didnt know it was a problem.Ya...it is,"his"forest....The vandelism was a few fallen rocks and a beer can thrown in.

gotta love this one.:BangHead:

Never donate or loan anything to a museum. It's a rip off. The people in the museum end up with great personal collections, you don't get any credit for the gift or loan, and in the case of my mother loaning a family item, the museum says they own it and won't give it back, even though it's in the basement and not on display. Hell, the basement flooded and I don't even know for sure if they still have it. Never give or loan anything to a museum, let them go find their own stuff.

at least THIS museum is never gonna see my yeti face again.gaarruuunnnteeeed.

Yep,I have a long family history with a "particular museum",that my grand mother put her heart and sole into. She watched as they hired people through the years that walked off with what ever they wanted, threw things away they didnt know what they were and box's and box's of pictures they let a little water damage a few,so they threw whole box's away.People would come in all time wanting to see something there family had donated only to find out it was gone.Used to just eat grand ma up.Then the capper....the City administrator advised her that the museum owned everything in it and that if they needed funds they were within legal right to sell!!!From that day forward she told people the same thing Bosn just said.I have quite a display of my collection on loan, with a sighned agreement, and I am the only one with a key to the case

yet another example of people knowing,"whats best for you"they should be jailed.I'm sure there are good museums run by thoughtful and responsible people.I gotta believe its true or I'm gonna have to disappear back into the forest and hide.

They aren't returning it? :censored: NO, the authorities should have (still can) confiscate it from the museum.

I knew museums routinely sold donations, but the things I've learned in these few posts is incredible.
