I was curious how others cleaned their coins from their finds, and read some threads here on how to do it... Some used Olive Oil, others tumbled them in a tumbler (Not a good idea IMHO), some used vinegar...

So I thought I would do some research on the net and share what I've found here... If anyone has other ideas to safely clean their coins without harming them, please post it...

Note: I think it makes sense to keep copper and other coins separate while cleaning. I think I will clean silver with silver, copper with copper, etc...

Hope these links are accessible over time...

Well, after reading these links I think one will get an idea of how to clean your finds. Again, if you find another method that is better and safer, please post it.

I use a tumbler for clad minus pennies with vinegar and dawn dish soap..tumble for 2- 3 hours, rinse.
