Basic yes but we're not all experts and I learned a few things. Anybody know where I can get his crevice tool?

Watch this one on sniping even if it's just to see the nuggets pop up.

What tool?..... I don't see any pics of it.

OK... Kinda thought that was what you were talking about... that orange handled tool?
I have looked and haven't been able to find anything like it either... But I posted on the video comments and ask him where he got it.... I agree it is one of the better crevicing tools I have seen.

It would be easy enough to make one though.. Just get some 3/16" flat stock and go to work on a grinder to put the hook into it. handles are easy enough to fabricate as well.......

Looks like what some guys were using years back. They'd buy chefs knives from the thrift stores and grind em. My thought to get that kind of curve you'd almost have to use something like a cleaver or the big meat cutters knives. Hint - If you make your own, wrap a wet rag around it when grinding keeps the temper so you don't have to re-temper. I tried a piece of stainless I had laying around to make one for a friend, but it was just to brittle.

If you want to do a bunch of work like this, it'd be worth making a trip to Harbor freight. They have a grinder that runs one wheel at normal speed, and the other wheel is geared way down and sits in a water tray. Haven't seen blue metal since I got mine! That & a belt sander ($59) and you can sharpen most anything!

A better way to sharpen... and cheaper... then and the 20% coupon and even cheaper

Since I blew the 2016 budget on the shrimp gun, I'll be hitting my favorite thift store soon. Heck, I got all outdoors and a bench grinder. Most anything is possible!:icon_thumleft:

Thanks for the info. I really like the soft grip and narrow blade and then...add a leather tether for the wrist for in stream use. Yep. :icon_thumleft: And don't forget the forceps or snatching up pickers and nuggets. :)

Description states high carbon steel..... Of course that's most likely Chinese...Hard carbon steel. But, they are not for prying! As my dad would explain to me when as a young child I would break his screwdrivers.:BangHead::laughing7:

Just bought em. Since I have none specific for the job, I'll cut my teeth on these while waiting for "the one" from twotoes.

Another site pointed out Combat Abrasives ceramic belt, I'm planning on ordering a 1x30" for my HF

And the thrift stores here have any number of securely attached handled knives.

HF also has pry bars of all sorts and don't forget screwdrivers can serve in some situations.

Thanks for the reminder on the machetes! Also, saw a post on another site where a kid couldn't find the belt grit he wanted, so he made one from that real heavy cellophane packing tape and carefully applied strips of sheet sand paper to it. I was real skeptical, but it worked excellent for finer grits! As far as like 60 - 80 still got my doubts.

Remember Jeff that this is one time that the 1st Calvery Motto isn't going to help ya much. That being "There is no problem that the proper application of high explosives will not solve!" Of course with the right amount of boom boom, the correct angle of the blast and a good tail wind, all the gold will be launched right into your vial that is sitting back at the house. ;)

Next time we talk I will give you instructions on how to do "Chinese Blasting". Cheap, easy and very effective.
